Back online with a Smash and a Bang!

Well after 10 days of feeling like I'm recovering from an autopsy, I'm finally back online. Not running at 100% yet, still have a cough that would frighten most dogs and small children, but I'm infinitely better than I was. Luckily I had my darling husband to look after me for a few days on the first weekend that he's had off in ages, he spent it caring for me and doing dad duties and then this past weekend while he was away, mum came to give me some TLC and take care of bub while I rested. I don't think I've ever been this unwell before for this long, it's the absolute pits. Anyhow I'm just hoping that I'm on the upper now!

So what's been happening..... Moolabella had another high-headed, pink eared, pink nosed calf and we still can't figure out how she got with the bull because she wasn't with one.

The dogs are all getting a bit fat and lazy and this weekend they have finally gone out for a bit of work, but the boss tells me that they are getting a bit tired in the heat.

In other news, we have a celebration!!!! The ploughing is finally finished!!! Whoo Hoo! Finally got all the fertilizer and seed out, and while our calibrations, were not always 100% scientific or accurate, it's all on the ground now.

Grandma came and did some babysitting so I could drive one of the tractors.

G-man wasn't too sure what all the fuss was about I don't think.

I ended up staking a tyre and 5 plugs later and an hour of using this piddly little compressor and we were back in business. Luckily I had a good jack to lift the tyre, so I could pump it up! Needless to say, we bought a better compressor since.

Now this is my first farming experience and I must say........ Who the bloody hell would be a farmer!! For goodness sake! Trying to get the rates right and calibration and timing and equipment and break downs and man power and then praying for rain!! But not too much rain, but has to be enough rain and then some follow up rain!! good grief! I understand that most farmers probably have a bit more superior equipment to us and better calculations and that being the first time, it bound to be a big learning curve, but I dunno. Lets just hope that we have some good results. Grow you little babies grow!

I'm very pleased to report that we had 42ml on our little seed patch, which we are delighted with and I'm not trying to be greedy, but a touch to follow up would be dreamy!

It did feel as though for a while that we weren't going to get any rain on our seed, every storm would go around and we even had an inch at the house that didn't make it to the boundary where the seed is.

This particular storm give me the heeby geebies because there were a few little bits of hail and I was about to run out and collect them, when there were these two strikes of lightening right beside the house! I thought 'blow the hail' I'm going back inside. As it was we blew a transformer at the house. She was a bit too close!

Not too sure what type of lizard this is but I wasn't about to pick him up.

I mentioned in my last blog that someone turned 1 just recently and these are some pics from that afternoon.

Marshmellow smash cake.

Even dad tried some.

Trying to wet the cat!

After bed time, the rest of us enjoyed a few drinks and nibbles to celebrate surviving one year as parents! Go us!

Been trying to get out a bit and take a few photos.
This one is a time lapse of the sky, I thought with the weather there might be a bit more colour but I was a bit disapointed.

Also been having a bit more of a play in photoshop.

The next ones are from our photo challenge weeks.

I saw a mob of these yesterday at the house and thought I would try and get a few shots, I hope that doesn't jinx our chances for the rain they might promise.

I hope you are all staying away from this dreaded flu!! Have you been under any rain? Even though we've had a few showers periodically, nothing has really stuck, it seems to dry off very quickly. Nothing to inspire you into action like a week of laying low and feeling sorry for yourself.... watch this space!
