Half Full

Interestingly enough, it's been a whole month and I've not been out with my good camera and I wonder if that's part of the reason that I'm feeling a little flat (half full). The lovely wet weather also has some impact on me sitting down for a moment at my computer. So in the hope of trying to avoid having an excessively large post, like I normally do, I thought I would do an update.

We had a birthday..... G man turned 7 and I made him a minion rainbow cake. My first time using fondant and it was a bit of fun, so I think I will do some more at some point. I think they looked kinda cool!

Cake for breakfast with Grandma before she went to work as lunch time was a quick hand over of the children, while Justin and I went and completed an RCS course which went for a whole week!

The course was at Yeppoon which meant my early morning jog was rather pretty.

I really loved the course and got so much out of it. Was worth every cent. I thought it was interesting the feedback that I had from people before I went into it, I think it covered so many topics, that what people told you they got out of it, was probably the area in their business that needed the most focus. Like for me, it was financial skills and understanding budget management. So I found that really helpful. As well as so much else! Met some really lovely people too and I was nice to be with a group of similarly minded people. I think this really will be the future of the ag industry. I think people are going to have to be most sustainable and regenerative in their practises because eventually everything else will be superseded and anyone not in the boat will have to paddle quick to catch up.

The last day of the course, poor Justin did a covid test, as one of the other people at the course had contracted it, and while he wasn't feeling terribly unwell as we had the first time we got it, he tested positive. Fortunately his group was happy for him to stay and wear a mask, so he got to finish the school which we were so grateful for. That night however, he was suppose to come with us to Anh Do, but as he wasn't well, Helen joined us! OMG I was amazed at how many times during the night, you would be laughing and then the next minute crying and then laughing again! I must read his book because he really does have such an amazing storey, and so funny!

Back home after being away for the week, we had a bit of catching up to do and I was mentally exhausted from being in the course from 8am-6pm (some days later) with very short breaks, not to mention, not feeling 100% well.
Mum had the kids for the first 5 days and then Sheree Zumpe had them for the next 3. I am so blessed to be able to call on them when I need because I know there are so many others who don't have people they can call on like that and I am so grateful to them.

I decided to give ourselves a week to recover, so not exercising or horse riding, gave time for some baking and some painting.

I think they are pretty cool! We are supposed to be doing an easter one at mini school next week which should be fun.

I found this little quote and it really appealed to me.

On a rare occasion, we all got out together as a family for a Saturday ride, followed by an afternoon of trimming feet.

These girls all had their feet and manes done to be pretty for a trip up to the Stallion.

Someone with their lucky Hazel who has grown significantly!

Cat taken over the long eared guinea pigs cage.

Miss got bitten in a sweet spot by a wasp. She had been bitten by them before so I wasn't terribly worried, until it tracked all the way up to her elbow in about 10 mins. So then I was a bit concerned. Phenergan was given and took a few days for the swelling to go down.

Very educated creature!

Made some biscuits! There's a long running joke between another mum from my daughter's class that always does so many amazing and elaborate school things... we alway take the piss of each other. I told her that I made her some biscuits! Nice to have people who can actually take a joke.

We've been fairly well back to normal this past week, apart from dad being away for a few days, but our routine of school and then out riding horses has been lovely and the kids came with me every day, except today because it was raining, but I wasn't to concerned about getting wet.

My little man is doing pretty well. We've only had a few issues, mostly with regards to who's boss, and as we are similarly temperamented, they can be rather serious discussions, but mostly I love him and he tolerates me, as long as I bring him food!

My dream team!

And that's a wrap!! Seemed longer than I anticipated. As usual, I find that I do actually get out and do a bit, even if I can't seem to remember until I look at the photos.

I'm just about to start reading "the call of the reed warbler" but I feel like it's going to be a mammoth effort, maybe I need a set of headphones so I can listen to half and hour a day.

Sending lots of love to you all.

We've not had much rain yet, the lawn got a little bit, but I have a feeling it's all gone south.

With Love
