Flashback

Camel ride around the pyramids.
So because our anniversary is coming up next month and at the moment, most of my photos are of a certain small person. I thought I'd take the opportunity to have a bit of a flashback to our honeymoon at the end of April 2013. I had no idea where I was going until we got to Brisbane! Justin organised the whole thing and kept it a secret, right up until one of the people at the counter spilled the beans. Was the best surprise ever.

When in Rome or Cairo as it was, had to try the Shisha.

This was our tour group at my favorite place on the whole trip.

Mediterranean Sea

These dudes are everywhere and in the middle of traffic on the most busy places.

Justin was pretty keen to give it a go!

Dedication to going for a swim if you ask me!

We went to El Alamein cemetery and after walking around for 10 minutes, I found this headstone. Not spelt right but still give me goosebumps.

Especially when it was only two headstones away from this one.

Dining out at Alexandria

War museum at El Alamein

This is a Fort on the edge of the Mediterranean.

Cairo

Little door ways

We were slightly dubious that this guy wouldn't give us our camera back, but luckily he did.

On the pyramid of Giza

Sphinx

Overnight in a sleeper train, was a bit of an experience!

These used to run for 5km between two cities. They were talking of restoring that but I'm not sure how they will manage it.

We were a bit appalled at the state of their horses, bit it was an experience.

Hatshepsut's temple, the first female pharaoh

Denial River.

Oh yes very posh!

Fishing in the Nile River

Discovering that there are probably no fish at all because it's been fished out!

This is special because it whistles.

Some of the figures, carving and inscriptions are still really perfect!

This was on wall, upon wall, upon wall of every temple we went to

In places this is what the edge of the Nile looked like, especially the further inland we went.

This was a hospital and all the walls had the inscriptions of all the different remedies, and if you think Queensland Health waiting times are bad, they showed us the floor where children had 'graffitied' while they were waiting in line. When the rosetta stone was discovered, it enabled us to decipher some of these remedies and use them. I thought it was pretty cool.

Cows on the edge of the Nile.

Donkey

I thought this was very Indiana Jones

Feral cats are everywhere!

We were amazed by the perfection of everything and that it was still intact.

Jealous rivals tried to remove the faces of these carvings but I think after a while they decided it was too big of a job.

They kill this donkey..... a lot! He is supposed to be the reincarnation of another god and they kill him on heaps of different carvings and even as different animals.

We went up to this guy on the street with his cobras and we were like "surely they have been milked"

As one of our gamer companions decided to test the theory, we were thinking "then again it is Egypt"

That one watched the whole time at our friend left and we all got the heeby geebies

Nubian Sunrise! YUMMY

Mummified Alligators

Loved the reception in this hotel.

Egyptian coke, still tastes like coke.

In a mosque

View from our Ferry boat at night.

Justin was paying me out about my headpiece.

This cow was in the back of a ute.

One of our drivers was very impressed with Justin's hat, so on our way home, Justin gifted it to him and I'm sure that made his whole week!
