Photographers Paradise

What an awesome month we've been having. I'm not sure where to start.

I'll explain a couple of the images and then I'll catch up on where we've been with all the phone photos.

Above is a composite image of two images overlay together and I really love the affect. I was a bit inspired after attending the PSQ (photographic society Queensland) Convention in Rocky and had been listening to some of their amazing keynote speakers.

Funny storey actually! Such a ditsy butterfly. You had to book into your workshops, prior to the convention and I booked two that appealed to me. Anyhow, worked out which area I needed to go to, walked in, introduced myself (as you do), thinking "oh, I thought it was a lady running this course... maybe she's unwell or late"..... on we go... "Why did you choose this workshop Kerrie?".... "oh I dunno, just appealed to me, just a spontaneous decision!"
Little did I know just how spontaneous I had been, I had my locations confused. So I was in the location for the workshop I was meant to attend on the second day, meanwhile the workshop I was suppose to be in was downstairs..... so the lecture starts and Kevin Hyde (who was lovely) started talking about being in the moment and the zen of photography! WELL, it was right at this point (30 mins in) that the penny dropped! What an idiot! I was in the Zen workshop and not the judging workshop I was supposed to be!!
Anyhow, I eventually come clean about what had happened and I think everyone just thought I was a weirdo! Apologised to the lovely lady Sue Gordon, whose course I had missed and she was so beautiful. I spoke to her later and she agreed to look over the images that I had printed out specifically for the workshop... from TWO different places. Too funny!!! ANYHOW, The above and below images are taken from my ZEN workshop, where we tried to be in the moment! Which to be honest, isn't really an issue for me, photography is my zen place. None the less, I love these old buildings so it was nice to spend some time photographing them.

I think maybe I really was where I was supposed to be though! Because as I stopped to take this photo, John Williamson started playing True Blue, which is my funeral song! So I guess I was exactly where I needed to be!!

As the convention fell over our 10yr wedding anniversary weekend we chose to take the following weekend away for a family holiday to Mackay. I was very blessed with this sky from the pier.

This was actually what I went out to photograph, but it wasn't what I had envisioned.

On our way home we stopped at Clairview for lunch and spotted a whole big herd of dugong. I was stoked, but they were still way to far away for me to capture.

I took this series of photos and I love the 'many faces of kaka'

Especially this next lot lol. Both of them, reluctantly holding hands so I could take their photos.

These two lol.

The following week we were volunteering at Paradise Lagoons Campdraft and I spent a heap of my money at this leather craft stall. He has some beautiful work and he's very quirky. When he found out I was a photographer, he asked me to take some for him, so here is a couple of them.

Then this past weekend was St Lawrence Campdraft. Such a beautiful little draft. I love how it's such a casual, low pressure draft. I will definitely be back next year. I have a bit of a notion that I would like to draft the brumby. But it might just be a wild passing notion.

Experimenting with a slower shutter speed, but I don't quite have it right yet.

This is Trevor Bradford. Such a lovely man and part of the committee.

I loved this one so much! I wish the rail wasn't there.

That's all from my SLR.

These are from my phone:

Soooo, since my last post, we had the Marlborough Show, which went off without too many dramas, apart from a significant amount of digging to discover the correct pipe to connect the tanks up to.

Bruiser got a new rug. He's a plash murry now!

Kids were stoked with theirs too! Especially that they can lead their horses with them.

The week leading up to the show was proper hectic with baking; muffins, slice, biscuits and fruit cake. Plus trying to get the house in some sort of presentable state for G man and Kaka's teachers to visit for a day, which was so special!

As soon as the teachers were gone, we were full steam ahead to get the truck and camper packed for the show. Luckily Justin had got most of it done for me and I already had the horses washed from the weekend before and they had stayed pretty clean.

My muffin's had a win! Got a couple of places with my others too which was good.

Kids had a lovely day, thanks to grandma who babysat them while they did their horse sports and then afterwards ventured around all the entertainment and likely sent grandma broke! Poor grandma, sore foot and all; trudging around with them all day, I think she was a bit wrecked by the end of it.

G man want a pet snake! I told him he could have one as soon as he grew up and moved out of home into his own place!

Bobby the Legend! Picking up a few ribbons for miss!

G man too. I think he was pleased with himself.

And we won the doubles barrel!! And I won the flag race too! Good money! Poor ol Carlos, had a sore foot from stone bruise, so I didn't even warm him up, just grabbed him out of the paddock, run the race and put him to bed! He's such a legend!

Grandma won CHAMPION EXHIBIT!! With her fruit cake! Soooo awesome and good money for that one too!! Which is probably the only reason that we spend all week preparing food!

Clean up day after the show! I'm glad we are done for another year! I'm so grateful to have such a lovely little committee.

Tuesday after the show we had an Anzac day ceremony at Stanage Bay. The kids were keen to do the dawn service, but we had already had such a big weekend we decided to just do the ceremony instead. Maybe next year.

PSQ Convention. My sister-in-law Melissa came down from Collinsville and it was so nice to be able to spend some time together with just us.

There was an auction at the Gala dinner at the end of the convention and Melissa and I both bought a print each.

At our Mackay holiday, miss insisted on doing my makeup! I felt so pretty!

We splurged on a nice hotel for the two night and it was a bit special! Lots of good food and chilling out

Gosh phones take such good photos now don't they!

Starting to get a few of my images in the local paper, so I decided to start collecting them.

Brumby is making some progress.

Took him to Paradise to do the mustering and he went pretty well.

I love this time that Justin and I get to spend together. Very grateful to mum for looking after the kids for the 4 days so that we can do it.

Ella was our chief little helper!

The last night I was there our school had volunteered to work the bar. After being up early to do the mustering I was a wee bit tired as you might expect.

After Paradise, we went straight to mini school while Justin went home with the horses.

Got to collect our cups from the pottery people. I love how they all turned out.

St Lawrence Draft catching up with friends!

Kids taking photos while facetiming with grandma! She's so beautiful!

Turned my cup into a candle.

Finally got our killer cut up!

Only a week to go now until the brumby challenge. I must say I'm a bit nervous. I was training and getting nervous, that went I stood up my legs would shake which made my spurs shake and poor ol dartanian is going wtf is wrong with you woman. Anyhow, he took a step and I had to jump off and he didn't bolt, so I guess that's a win!

And that's where I will leave you trendsetters!
Hope you are all awesome!

How beautiful is this time of year! Just the smell of bushfire smoke on the cool evenings! Makes me nostalgic for jam drops! I might have to go make some.

With Love
