Calm before the storm!

I love this time of the year, the weather is beautiful, not too hot and just cold enough to put a coat on in the mornings. The smoke haze drifts across in the afternoon from the army doing their burn (sometimes a little too much smoke, but mostly just pleasant for this pyro) and you can sit on the verandah in the sun and lazily sip on a cup of tea. Ah, what a life! I am just so lucky to have so many wonderful things in my life to be grateful for, my beautiful little family, good friends and a pot of tea. What more could you want!

On the weekend, we had a lovely family day out. Packed some smoko and lunch and mustered two paddocks for 160 head. These cattle were an absolute credit to my lovely husband and his weaner tailing abilities. The buggy loaded up with 3 dogs, carseat, baby, wife, camera bag, esky; and without any hassle all our last year's weaners just calmly walked out of the timbered country and into the laneway. I remember only a few years back with some bought cattle of dad's, it could take us 3 days with 3 people to muster just one paddock to get the ratbags out.

The mustering team!

Bit of play time at smoko.

I got to have a day "off" a couple of weeks ago, which give me a chance to ride a few of my horses. They were broken in 2 years ago and due to injury and pregnancy had not been riden since. I was pretty pleased with their response. Carlos even remembered how to lay down, which I have been working on, in case little legs in the future want to ride him.

Fire bug Dick, burning some grass off the fence for dad so it could be easily repaired.

Bit of action from "Sock", jury is still out on that name!

Sock! What a specimen!

We were pretty happy with this year's pregnancy rate amongst our first calf heifers, even with one bull semen test putting him out of the game and bringing out average down a bit, we were still fairly pleased.

Justin with this year's Wagyu weaners.

Interesting cloud, was a cirrus behind a cumulous and it looked a lot better than my phone cloud show.
As promised I am only putting one of the old home videos on this week. These are some snippets from Marlborough Pony Club. Some of the presentation part is a bit long winded if you don't know the people, but when you do know some of them, it's a bit of a giggle. A blast from the past. Especially at the end to see the old ambulance and it includes a few people who have now passed away including my grandmother. It is pretty cool to see how some of it used to be run and how some things have changed and some never do (like the screaming kids ha ha). Also I would like to see if anyone can spot the feralist kid in the whole video...... Sandy McCartney! God love ya mate!

Oh my goodness, I realized that my last blog did not have one photo of my beautiful boy in it!! So this week you're getting a double dose of the little man!!

My little Queenslander!

Poppy gets all the chatter! As soon as he sees him, Garrett just starts yarning away.

Bit precious

Stroking the black baby.

Yeehaw dad!

Bit cold out here mum!

I'm not too sure about this swing business.

What a life ey! That was this afternoon. Was a bit windy when we got there, but as the sun went down the water was like glass. Justin caught one little salmon, but threw him back.

These are a few little snippets I tied together off my phone, sorry to end it with a tantrum, but he really has got it down pat now! And I assure you, it was a tanty.... no wind, no poo.... I just wasn't feeding him fast enough and he hadn't had his afternoon sleep!

Dad took these on mum's phone when she wasn't there!
So I thought that mum better get in on the action! We made one good looking kid! Must take after his dad I think!

The weatherman is predicting a bit of rain in a few days time. Grandad suggested we move some cattle to higher ground just in case. We shall see what happens.
