The Invasion

The military have once again visited our neighbouring block, the Shoalwater Bay training area. They hold their operation Talisman Sabre every second year and I think this is the second or third time that they have landed at Langham beach for their amphibious assault. We were very privileged to be able to view their landing.

I think this guy was having a little engine trouble because the others only had white smoke.

The landing consisted of Japanese forces, the U.S, N.Z and the Aussie troops, all bringing their amphibious vehicles into the beach.

Sorry I can't remember which ship was whom.

Yeh I really don't think the black smoke is normal..... I think this was a fire!

I think I'm too much of a bushie for this, all I could think when these tanks emerged from the water was "omg all that salt will make everything rust!"

Still pretty awesome to see these vehicles come from miles out to sea, right into the shore and they are mostly submerged all the way in!

Bonni, Ella and Lucy has also come along to the landing. They actually had the troops going through their property and setting up their camps as well as having war games on their block.

Yes I know there are hundreds of photos. I took over a thousand, so I've narrowed it down a fair bit!

I've seen some footage from this drone online and it's pretty cool! This was one of theirs.

Photographing me, photographing you.

Was a bit hard to get a wave, but the kids managed a couple.

Now these were my absolute favourite! These hover craft were unreal to watch and for a cool $10M you can have your very own!! I think I would settle just for a ride. These are owned by the Japanese...... I wondering if I could befriend a Japanese General, and trade a bit of wagyu for a ride!!!

There is some footage of these in the video at the end of this post.

Was awesome once the tide had gone out because you could see them much better!

Was such an awesome event to witness and it was definitely worth the terrible sunburn that I managed to get!

This weekend just gone, we ventured up to Finch Hatton to visit my aunt and uncle, for my cousin Steph's engagement party. I managed to get out early one morning to take a few pics and I just kept walking on and on in my PJ's because the views were just so lovely and I thought "I'll just go the the next hill"..... 1.5km later and I thought I better go home.

As we travelled up on the Friday, we spent the Saturday touring around the countryside. Broken River had a spot for viewing platypus and we spotted a couple of little playful fellas.

Such cool and weird little things!

After lunch, the big fella and I offloaded the kidlets to grandma and went to Finch Hatton gorge for a look. It's a 4.5km walk with the first half mostly uphill. But it was very pretty.

Love how this log has been wedged under this rock, as though it's holding it up.

The above photo was of the Fire Wheel Falls, it was rather spectacular but very hard to take a photo of with the sun where it was. Apparently a few people have died trying to climb up them.

The water was so beautiful, you could easily drink it.

Poser!

The heavy fogs in the morning I absolutely loathe.... they leave everything wet and cold and take forever to lift, but on the upside, they do leave some lovely dew drops on my hibiscus which was very pretty.

From my phone:

I decided to give the hill run a go, since the army had camped up beside the road where I normally run! Apart from this gorgeous sunrise, I was not a fan! I dunno how the big fella does it all the time, it's hard going!

Bit cheeky but I like this one!

Big fella and I did the obstacle hell course in rocky a few weekends ago. Was really good fun although at 9 degrees at 7:30 in the morning and one of our first obstacles we had to dive into the water..... was a wee bit chilly! But still good fun! I think we will do it again next year. We did it in pretty fair time considering I had just had 2 weeks off and only a week back to run before it.

Grandma looked after our babies for us while we did the course and she even brought them out to see us. Then took them to the park while we had a hot shower and got our body temperatures back up!

It was nice to have some ribs from our killer but unfortunately, because we have been so busy, we left it hanging too long and the mould meant that we lost the ribs! Was just not worth it, to cut it all off. Oh well... we will have to do another one just for the ribs!

Love this mob

Group hugs while we waited for the boats to come into shore at Langham.

Bonni, getting al the details from the boss man

Was funny to look out into the scrub and see them everywhere.

Grumpy little sleeper lol

When I went for my run the other day, I looked at the moon and thought "oh that's funny, I thought we had a full moon".... and proceeded to take a photo of it.

When I got home the big fella said, "did you see the eclipse"
"The what?"
"The eclipse on the moon?"
"Ah, yeh, I dunno, maybe!"
The I realised that I had actually taken a photo of it!!! Talk about ditsy!

This was the dust from the army driving up and down our road.

These kids just love a fire!!

This one nearly went in the garage sale, but I decided to hang it.... I did it when I was grade 8 or 9

Love Sunday cuddles on the couch!

Has her brothers undies on her head!

J took this, helping at Couti-Outi. One way to get your cattle quiet, it to fly a heap of helicopters and planes over them.

Kids both got new beds this month! Missy is a bit of a fan of her "horsey" sheets I think.

True love right there, when he buys you a new knife for the killer.

How's that for a sirloin YUM!!

EUNGELLA

Master G is getting pretty good with the camera! Provided  delete 100 or so!

BROKEN RIVER

"Take a photo of me mum"

FINCH HATTON GORGE

Smile he says!
Not like a weirdo he says! lol

Aunty Christine and Uncle Dave

Christine, Lachy, Steph, Dave and Chloe

This is all the cousins on my mums side except one that was missing. Chloe, Steph, Stew, Me, Nathan and Trent.

Dancing in my own little world lol

Was a bit of a long day the next day, trying to function to pack up camp and get home with groceries and a throbbing head! Luckily the big fella drove me all the way home! I don't think I would have managed!

On another note, finally booked our flights to the Country to Country in Brisbane at the end of September! It should be awesome and I've just made myself up a playlist with all the artists that are going to be there. So it's about 90% Tim Mcgraw and 10% everyone else! Can't wait!!

The next video is a few snippets from the past few weeks and has a couple from the hover craft landing as well.

Well I don't think I can procrastinate any more, but my motivation for book work is not very high!!
I know bit of a photo overload this post, with all the army ones. But it was very cool and I couldn't narrow it down!

Got another one for you by Pistol Annies... this one cracks me up!! The first line is gold!

Take it easy xox
