Laid Up

Sometimes I love it when I've taken my camera out a few times and haven't had a chance to go and edit the photos. When I finally do get around to going through all the shots, it's nice to see what we've been doing. Sometimes things get so busy that we forget to take stock; although something tells me I'm going to have time to take stock now.

One of our creeks runs for a long time after it rains and it's the perfect spot for a warm swim in the cool afternoon as the water runs shallow over the rocks during the day and it's the perfect temperature.

With the lack of social events on, it has meant that we can take some time out as a family on our weekends and do some fishing.

I managed to capture this guy as he was eating the killer carcass that we left behind. He's a beauty!

When we saw this guy, I went up to take his photo and I was hoping that he would put his frill out for me. But as I got closer, he sank lower and lower and then finally moved down the side of the rail (rather quickly) and as I was only looking through my lens, he gave me a fright which everyone thought made me seem so brave lol.

My wild child. Sharing with her brother.

I never really realised just how savage these guys are with their big spikes on their wings until I took these photos. Their little chicks are so cute!

I was took late by the time I got my camera to this tree, but all the rays were just perfectly shining through 5 mins earlier.

This was our last weekend of the easter break and we went out fishing on the furtherest spot on our place. Was very beautiful weather and we managed to get a pretty good haul.

"I'm gonna get you"

King Salmon

Dick, our quarantine neighbour landed this beauty.

Kids were a bit excited about catching a shark.

Seems a repeating storey, that I'm a few minutes too late. But by the time I got my camera out, I had missed the best part.

My little fisherman! He's getting really good now!

Lots of these shovel nose rays around. The big fella even managed to walk into the water and pick on up with his bare hands.

From my phone:

So as you saw in the above photo, we have some new neighbours for a while. Dick and his wife Heather have come to stay at the house next door. They are from South Australia and they were staying in QLD when all the boarders got closed. So for them to get home they would need to quarantine at the QLD/ NSW boarder and again at the NSW/ SA boarder and then again when they got home. So rather than spend 6 weeks just in quarantine just to get home they came up here which is lovely to have the extra company and extra hands to help.

I made them a welcome pack for when they arrived.

Missy loves "My Baby Blye"

I don't know why I don't make ginger bread more often, it's so yum!!

Good to know that I haven't forgotten how to weld lol.

Cups of tea with my girl.

We weren't driving when I took this, the wind had just blown her hair like that.

I had never made jam drops with marmalade before, but it was really good!

Sorry if you've not got a good constitution. This is my best horse and the only one that I had that would follow a beast.... of course! So now all my troops have had a promotion. Above is when he first did it and below is from today. So it's slowly getting better.

One for her 21st I think.

I got out to do a bit of mustering which was awesome. Although I daresay I will get the sack as after 2 days of riding around, we are still 13 head short!

Someone thinks it's for her!

Easter dinner! How good is our life!

Mumsy ventured out to see us for Easter which is nice for a catch up.

I got a horse breaking contract from a friend of mine, but I must say, I'm not having a great deal of luck with them. This was my second day.........

Yes I coped a hoof to my thigh which laid me out for a couple of days.

So I started them again on the Monday with everything going well, but my last horse on the Thursday did this manoeuvre --->

Which dislocated my knee and have made these my new attachments! Soooooooo frustrating. I have to have 6 weeks off. Which means a lot of my exercising, running and horse training will now be out the window and I will have to start again  *sigh*!! Oh well it could have been a lot worse I suppose. Trying to look on the upside, at least I will get my bookwork done (which I avoid like the plague) and I also have an offer to do some photographing, so once I can weight bare again, I will be able to do that.

The photos below are from our fishing weekend.

How good is a fresh crab!!! You can't beat it hey!

We got a good haul between us all. We got 3 crabs, 3 salmon, a flathead and a barra.

We watched the storm above forming and moving away from us and I think it moved onto Rockhampton where they got massive hail. The below photo is what mum sent me. Lucky there wasn't more damage.

And we are back to school again which I'm not too sure that I'm cut out for, but we try.

These were a couple of photos that I took the other morning when I went out for a run. I'm so sad to think that it's going to be 6 long weeks before I can do it again, but with any luck I might be able to start walking sooner.

I've started listening to an audio book called "Not a Diet Book", I must say it hasn't really captivated me so far, but I might give it another chapter or so. Paranoid about getting fat while I'm not doing anything lol.

Also, Ashley McBryde has bought out a new album and omg this one is a cracker, Martha Divine, a little on the dark side but I like it.

Well everyone stay safe and well and you never know you might hear from me a bit sooner next time, with all this free time on my hands!
