Black Betty

I've been rather remiss with my camera this year, which became quite evident when I attempted to create my yearly calendar and had very little to choose from. I just love Emus though. Even the locals here reckon they have never seen quite so many, but I just think they are so cool and quirky.

Must make a note to get out with my camera a bit more. I do have a plan to do a road trip and photograph a number of families, at the end of this term, weather permitting.

From my phone:

These pair! She had to ride Bobby again the other day, as Carlos had put his foot through a fence. She was rather reluctant as he had been kicking out, which had her a bit spooked, but there were many smiles when she got home.

I saw these and made a prediction of 12-14 days to rain. This was the 21st of October.

Finally finished my tree of life.

This was some Drama that Garrett had to do for school which was a lot of fun!

Me, not being much help.. still not able to lift anything and watching Justin, work out how he was going to load the air compressor.

I had a follow up Dr apt in Rocky on the 29th October. So I took the opportunity to have a hair cut.

I've learned now (having had 13 anaesthetics) that my hair always falls out in large amounts, following anaesthesia. So I decided to get a heap cut off and donate it before it was depleted.

Takes a bit of getting used to not needing as much shampoo. I decided to get a some foils as well for a treat.

So, the kids have been hounding me for the past few years to go to halloween! I promised them last year that I would take them. So I ordered some costumes online and this year they were extremely excited and counting down the days until halloween.

Even Grandma got in on it, as I hadn't ordered enough for the two of us, so grandma dressed up with the kids. We went over to my sister-in-law's parent's house where a great deal of the neighbourhood participate.

The minions (3 sisters)

We actually had a lot of fun! There was a person inside that costume and I daresay he was pretty damn hot!

After being in town and getting the Ok from my Dr to drive again, and getting a hair chop and doing halloween with copious amounts of sugar on board, we headed home.
Via Springsure.... to pick up our new family member...

Meet "Black Betty". My dear friend Sheree has been telling me for some time that she was going to breed me one. As soon as I saw her, I fell in love! She's the cutest little thing and very loved, even if it does mean that mum and I have been sleeping on the couch when she starts crying in the night.

Meanwhile, our house bore has decreased significantly in its ability to refill. So much so that we can't fill most of the new tanks that we've put in. So we have had a bore driller here trying to find us a new reliable bore. First hole... success! 1000gal bore. Hopefully this will be enough, however, we have drilled a few other holes since as further back up. Second hole, had water, but then was drained quickly, so not reliable. Third hole was dry and we have one more hole to attempt.

Mum has been out here this past week and we took the opportunity for her to watch the kids at school while I went for a bit of a drive with Justin to put out some cotton seed.

School is hard work.

So... as I said, I predicted on the 21st October that it would rain in 12-14days because of the cactus flower.... However; on the 4th of November when they began to flower, I was very disappointed with their lack of rain. However; they proceeded to flower for 3 days and on the 3rd day... we got 42mm. So they did eventually come good.

Mum and I having a port to celebrate the first storm of the season.

Came down pretty hard and fast and made the creek run.
No comment necessary.

Been reading this book and I've downloaded it for the kids to start listening too. It's really interesting the power of how we can think about things and the outcomes. So many really good anecdotes through the book.

Also teaching myself to crochet. Which I thought would be easy.... it's not! Anyhow, I'm giving it a red hot go.

Soooo the symbolism of this apple was kinda lost on my son, however; it was kinda cool to me. Years ago, before Green Valley, when I asked the kids to draw our new home and what it would look like, G man would always draw a house, with a big apple tree beside it. THIS is our first apple from our new home and the apple tree that we planted.
I must say, it was actually not too bad. G man had forgotten, all about his ambitions for an apple tree and instead told me of how his drawings had a big pool.... they didn't. *Insert facepalm here* Anyhow... we do have a small above ground pool that we will install once our water is sorted.

Couple of videos from the last month.

So that's it. A bit of a short one this time but with the overcast and misty weather outside, I felt that doing my blog was a productive use of my time.
Me and my girl might crawl up on the couch and watch a movie.

I'm 6 weeks post op now. Some of the frustration is starting to set in, although I do still get a bit sore of a night time which is keeping me in check.

Hope you are all getting under some rain.
With love x
