Fires and Ghosts.

Managed to get my camera out a bit this month.

Bit of a burn. We had so many crews on this job. They decided to call it though, because she was a bit windy. So we had another attempt on the Sunday night. I love this photo of Julie... she's just as much of a pyro as me!

Hammo and Rob

Hastings and Sam

Thought these made for good social documentary photos, but not sure which one I like better.

Sunday afternoon, the conditions were much better. I got Garrett on the fire bug and I think he loved it.

George and Steve.

Two little fire bugs.

We even had a road crew which was a good help while we drove the buggy along the road.

Was a good amount of fuel right near the township which made for some good photos.

Counsellor Donaldson doing some fire fighter work.

No idea how some the guide posts got burnt.

With all the fire under control, we all hung out near the cemetery and saw these min min lights over near Venus, I took a few images and stitched them together in the next image. They were going all over the place in different directions.

Look at this unit will you.... I wasn't quick enough, but Milly was splashing the water and then jumping up to catch the droplets.

Not sure why but some of my images have been quite dark lately. Just looking at this one, I can see that now.

One morning after the fires, we were trucking cattle out and the light was streaming through the trees just beautifully. So the very next morning, I set an alarm for the same time to go and get the shot.... buuuuut... there wasn't enough smoke on that day, so I may have tore up and down the road in the buggy to create a little bit of dust.

I did love this one though.

So, with our monthly competition being "long exposure", I had envisioned this shot, but perhaps with the milky way more in the background. Anyhow, I'm not much of a night owl anymore, so at 10:30, I took my ghost with me to the cemetery.

Well, talk about one chatty poltergeist. I was in trouble for walking on the graves and annoying the dead people. Then we were taking too many shots, and rather uncompliantly only managed to get a couple of photos, before the neighbouring geese made a terrible caterwauling sound and my ghost decided it was time to leave. After returning home, my enthusiasm dissipated significantly and I chose not to return at 1:30 for the alignment of the milk way behind my chosen grave-sights.

I was still fairly happy with the couple of images we got anyhow.

From my Phone:

The "would be" cattle dog

I was feeling a bit sorry for myself after a bit of a long and rough week in the school room so I went to sit in the creek and do some grounding. I had some company that were thinking "wtf is that crazy woman doing?"

G man and his mate Cruise. They are going so well. Here is a video of their progress.

Some little flowers from Kaka's garden.

Gymkhana practise.

We did a hazard reduction burn on the side of the road this month. Our first attempt at 10am on Friday was a little more aggressive than we had hoped, so we cancelled until Sunday night when conditions were a bit more favourable.

It got a little bit woofy.

How damn cute are these?

Sourdough pizza.

On the Sunday night, we had a much more successful burn and I had a couple of new helpers doing the fire-bugging. May be some genetic predisposition here.

Clermont gymkhana. Kaka won her age group.

G man won his age group.

And the brother and sister pairs took out the team of four.

I planted some bulbs. Not too sure, what they are or if this is as good as they get, but they are very pretty and tiny.

Just in case you needed to know how to cut your kids sandwiches.

I don't know that I've ever seen a breaker this quiet. He pretty much just had a sniff and then walked straight on top of the tarp that he's never seen before.

Blackwater gymkhana. Another win for Kaka.

And another win for G man.

We had a week of school at the big house because I accidentally used up all the internet at the school house. Which meant that I could do some cleaning and baking for the week.

Kaka was sword fighting around the kitchen with my dough Hook, saying "Aaargh, I am Captain Cook!"
Not sure if she's intentionally that funny or if it just comes out of her.

Sourdough pancakes. With some raspberry sauce that the kids created.

Miss got $50 out of me because she could get on her horse without a stump.

G man learnt how to lay his horse down.

Whitey has decided that our old mattress, which we have not been bothered to take to the dump yet, makes for a pretty good spot to sleep.

5am
So, weird photo, but my dear cousin and I did a thing, where we sent photos to each other every hour. I loved this because, we got to chatter all day, in an out of our hectic lives and we had a little glimpse into each other's day. I would definitely do this again.

Not sure what was happening here, usually these 3 never get along, let alone share a bed. I love how you can actually see all their personalities in their eyes.

Fat... and pregnant!

Someone had a haircut.

Aaaaand I'm not a very good hairdresser. I'm sure she will forgive me.

This mini school, G man had his Yr 5 camp at Seaforth. I've not had a lot of detail yet, but I'm sure it's still coming once he recovers.

Jo, G man, Ben, and Hugh

Jo and G man found the Beef Jerky I had packed before they even left.

This mini school we were so lucky to have Stacey and her son Brennan (who is in Kaka's class) staying with us, and that meant that we had a very talented hair stylist with us for the week. Everyone thought that I had levelled up.... I had not!!!

I may have snuck Garrett's phone in with him to let me know that he was ok.

The boy's rooms.

Kaka had an excursion to Cooberrie Park

AAANNNDDD..... I was surprised with a birthday party for me... My birthday is not for another month, however, with all the mums in for mini school, my mumsy decided to take the opportunity to have a birthday party. I had a couple of little clues, but I was still very delighted to see everyone there and all those that made the effort to come and have lunch. The theme was Iceland as that's my birthday treat to myself; we leave at the end of October. How damn cute are all those Penguins. Totally doesn't matter that there aren't any in iceland LOL. My two mumsies, made all of them and it seemed such a shame to eat them.

Me and Arlie

I think mumsy was so relieved that she managed to pull it all off.

Look at those layers.... OMG they were so delicious. Coffee, Carrot and Mud... soooo good.

Tania, hand made this journal for me. AND I was gifted matching, gloves, scarf and beanie... which I LOVE!! and they were all so funny cause Tania was running late with the gifts and I was talking about what I still needed for the trip, which included, gloves that I could work my camera with.... exactly what they gave me. So they were all trying not to laugh. I'm so very lucky which such beautiful group of friends.

Susan and Arlie (with her little daughter Kenzi) came to visit me the next day because they had been busy with school stuff the day before.

Bec, Tanya, Megan, Me, Tania, Jackie and Stace.

LOOK at that Beanie!!!!! So fluffy!!!

Mum gave me this gorgeous travel bag and my other mum gave me a gorgeous wrangler wallet.

Book week dress up on the last day of mini school

Brennan the swaggie shoving his jumbuck in the bag.

And that's a wrap! What an epic month it has been. Lucky I take so many photos to prove that I'm doing something. Always got room though.... for relatives or friends... that may wish to come and visit me.... Just SAYIN.. a little louder for those in the back!!! ALWAYS GOT ROOM.

I read Jimmy Carr's book, "Before and Laughter".... he's a crack up and I loved his book, his life philosophy matches mine very similarly.

Hope you're having a lucky day.

With Love...
